All of the photography posted on here belongs to me. My photos look better on Flickr.

I took this for an assignment where we had to represent another artist’s work through a self portrait and my artist was Ellen Rogers. I then mordancaged my photo and the color of the paper changed because I developed this image in the darkroom on fiber based photo paper.

During my winter break I shot with a 6x9 camera and I absolutely hate it. All of my photos were out of focus and it was difficult for me to focus correctly and it was just an awful experience. I taught a friend of mine how to use it and her photos came out beautifully. I don’t know why or how but I was really jealous. Anyway, since my photos were out of focus I destroyed my negatives. I taped this photo to the bottom of my shoe and walked around my school all day.

I’m so excited to be able to post this photo. I took this not too long ago but I was so impatient and wanted to post it because I really like it. We had to dissect owl pellets for my environmental science class and instead of throwing my bones away I thought of a cool way to reuse them and my friend Joey, who I am in love with, gave me hers. I used tacky glue to glue the bones to my model’s back and then just took photos of her in her backyard. I took this with a Yashica twin lens. I took more cool shots but I’ll post them individually because I’m in love with them.

I went to see my friend play a show along with Twitching Tongues and it was a good show. I had so much fun and every band was pretty good. It was my first time shooting at a show and I was kind of afraid of people moshing on me so I took these with the best of my ability. So many blue eyed, pale, white boys went so I have to edit out a lot of pasty skin and red eyes. I’ll probably have them done by Friday and just upload all of them as a photoset. I’m not in love with these but I’m expanding my horizons and I think they came out pretty decent for my first time shooting at a show.

This is my Mordancage print. Mordancage is basically a process that distorts and bubbles up the exposed silver on your photo paper and makes it look like a veil. It’s really cool and it’s, like my teacher said, “photo voodoo magic”. You put the print made on RC paper in a bleach mixture and that turns your paper a kind of olive color and then you take it out when the black/olive veils the way you want and wash it. After that you put your print in developer and it makes the olive parts black again and you can take it out when there’s still some olive (that then turns to gold) or when it’s all black. I’m really proud of this print and I feel like it’s the best one I have made this semester so far. The way I picked up the paper determined the way the veils would sway so I made sure I picked it up on it’s side to give it that swooping wave-like effect.

This is a photo I took during the summer. I painted my model’s face with acrylic paint and put glitter on her eyebrows (the photos will be posted as soon as I edit them) and unfortunately they irritated her eyes and skin. I felt really terrible, she has been such a good model for me for over a year now. I took this photo when I told her to go far out into the water and go in. She felt uncomfortable so she came back up and I decided to hit the shutter button. I like how her figure is androgynous and you can clearly see the details of the clouds. I took this with a Holga and used a tripod.
